“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”
– Karl Lagerfeld –
Hi, I’m Hannah!
Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was look through the Creative Memories photo albums that my Mom put together. I loved flipping through my family’s history; from pictures of my great-grandmother as a little girl to pictures of my Dad dressed as Baby New Year in college. There are photos of birthdays and celebrations and normal days at home. To this day, I love to look through those old photos and remember. And that’s where my love of photography began – with the awe of being able to see a memory that had happened years before and had been frozen for the future.
I first began capturing life on camera when I was 12 years old and borrowed my Mom’s little point and shoot on a trip to the zoo. I was hooked. Fast-forward a few years to 2011 when my 14 year old self withdrew my life’s savings to purchase my first DSLR. I began documenting anything and anyone in sight, to my family’s chagrin. Whenever they protest about my photography mania now, I tell them, “You’ll thank me one day when you can’t remember this.” 😉 Because photographs capture memories that you don’t want to forget. The mischievous gleam in your toddler’s eye, the smiles that make your face light up and your nose scrunch up, the way your baby looks when they are surprised or happy, the love and the joy and the memories of your family – I love freezing all of these things to share with others. I want you to be able to look back at pictures in years to come and say, “Do you remember? I had forgotten about that!”
That’s what Hannah Catherine Photography is all about:
capturing memories through photographs.
